So yesterday, I’m scrolling through my Instagram feed and I saw a video that a good friend of mine reposted featuring Trick Trick, a Detroit native. The video was a response to another video with Redman. And both videos caught my attention for their substance. Two big names from the music world put out some choice words mainly about work ethic, being productive, learning skills outside of your zone and as Redman stated, “maximizing his capabilities.”
It left me in agreement and contemplating about my own circumstances. It’s the summer time and for many that means fun, but honestly, this summer isn’t all about fun for people like me. At least not yet.
Sure, there’s nothing wrong with having a good time, hanging out and enjoying life but what I got from both of those videos was this. I got places I want to go and things that I want to do. If I can have fun while striving toward those things then cool. But if not, then what am I really doing with my 24 hours?
This is a separate thought but it’s related. The habits I have on the day-to-day basis ultimately shape the outcomes in my life. If I don’t have the right set of habits that cater to those places I want to go and things I want to do then I’m working against my own plans that can only lead to failure unless things change and change for the better.
