Music is everything these days, but not all of it I like. It’s not because the music isn’t good or anything because a lot of artists that rap make good sounding songs. However, my ears like a certain. A sound that reflects my state of mind and personality, which is cool, laid back, quiet, reflective, down the earth, etc.
You get my drift. I’m an old soul as well.
So when people read the types of music I write about or listen to the types I talk about, then nine times out of ten it’s because I’m promoting what matches my personality or something like it. With that said, it wouldn’t be hard for people to recommend me music that I’ll like if they knew my personality.
As a music listener I’m the type who rather hears that real shit. I’m no stranger to throwing a house party or two, but I don’t care too much to hear those records during my personal time like that. Give me something smooth and thoughtful, and with little soul to it then I’m all ears. It’s something that I resonate with most.
Every artist got one or more of these type of songs where the music and artist speak from the soul almost. It doesn’t necessarily gotta be that deep though. Either way, I know I fuck with those types of records heavy.
A short list of what I’m talking about:
Young Dro’s Hear Me Cry
T.I.’s Still Ain’t Forgave Myself
Stretch Money’s Get That Doe
Interstate Gotto’s My Soul
Jay-Z’s Soon You’ll Understand
Tsu Surf’s Conversations
Z-Ro’s Don’t Worry Bout Mine
Mac’s My Brother
YoungBoy NBA’s Overdose
G Herbo’s Malcolm
Skyzoo’s Honor Amongst Thieves
Lupe’s The Cool
Big KRIT’s Lost Generation
Beanie Sigel’s Die & What Your Life Like
Ace Hood’s Bitter World
Shy Glizzy’s My Heart
Young Buck’s Look At Me Know
Jim Jones’ I Know
Young Gunz’s Tough Luv
Outkast’s Return of the “G”
Shit like that. And I know all music has its place, and I’m not always listening to those types of records cause sometimes I wanna get live too gotdammit.
But seriously, in general, when it comes to this rap shit I wanna hear something I can feel, ya know.
